General Ethics

a. MEMBERS OF THE MTPC UNDERTAKE THE FOLLOWING AS A COMMITMENT TO PROFESSIONAL PRACTISE. That they do not canvas contractors who are currently under contract to another Member agency.

b. Members shall not undercut standard and historical margins and taxes charged to established clients by other members.

c. Irrespective of whether or not the member consultant has the authority of the contractor to distribute his or her details to appropriate potential employers, NO RESUMES, CV OR SIMILAR SCHEDULE OR PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DETAILS OF A CONTRACTOR, WILL BE DISPATCHED BY FAX WITHOUT THE EXPRESS REQUEST FROM THE CLIENT, FOR THAT SPECIFIC RESUME OR CV TO BE DISPATCHED. Members should consider not including the propose hourly rate for a particular contractor on the resume submitted by fax. Rather, the client should be phoned and given the rate by the member consultant to preserve confidentiality and avoid potential problems if such information is abused by the client, employees or other contractors. TO FURTHER THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THESE PROCEDURES EACH MEMBER SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BRINGING TO THE ATTENTION OF THE ASSOCIATIONS ETHICS COMMITTEE ANY VIOLATION OF THESE STANDARDS. IT SHOULD BE ALSO POINTED OUT THAT WHEREVER POSSIBLE A CLIENT SHOULD NOT BE CONTACTED.

d. MEMBERS WHO HAVE NOT CONTACTED A CONTRACTOR AND BRIEFED HIM/HER FOR THAT SPECIFIC POSITION BUT HAVE RECEIVED A "GENERAL" GO AHEAD FOR ANY POSITIONS MEETING A SPECIFICATION WILL NOT ACHIEVE EFFECTIVE REFERRAL IF ANOTHER MEMBER HAS BRIEFED THE CONTRACTOR AND CLIENT OF EACH OTHERS POSITION AND COMPLIED IN ALL OTHER RESPECTS WITH THE STANDARDS OF "EFFECTIVE REFERRAL."
